Minneapolis Schools are dramatically failing our children. Minnesota’s Education System used to be a model for the country, now it’s just an embarrassment.
Government’s first role is protecting your life and liberty. Allowing criminals to repeatedly victimize citizens without consequences is cruel and unusual.
It’s not about the money, it’s about who decides how it is spent. You can make better choices with your hard-earned money. The state's $17 billion surplus should have been returned to us, the taxpayers, who paid more than the government needed to do its job.
The first amendment is about freedom of thought, aspiration and expression. Government that is destructive of these ends is a disservice to Minnesotans.
Every generation thinks it’s smarter than the previous one, and has all the answers. But the truth is, wisdom and knowledge come from experience and education. I applaud young people for wanting to have their voices heard, and their ideas taken seriously. I want them to have dreams and passions that propel them into the future, but we all need a reality check from time to time. And the reality is, we need governance in Minnesota that protects young people from policies that can harm their futures because the unintended consequences haven’t been thought through.
We need policies that reduce the size and scope of government, which have become burdensome to those of us just trying to support our families and live our lives as we see fit.
There’s a knowledge gap in our state regarding what we think the government is supposed to do, and what it actually does — how one law created today filled with the best intentions, can wreak havoc on the next and future generations.
I want to be a voice of reason in the legislature that helps create laws that prevent harm, but not at the expense of ingenuity and prosperity. I want to help eliminate laws that needlessly burden businesses and homeowners.
We need a government that works for us, not the other way around.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I graduated Cum Laude from The Philadelphia High School for Girls and earned my bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington, DC. In 1989, I moved to Minnesota and have lived in my south Minneapolis home for more than 25 years. I am married to Shawn Holster and we have two cats (Mitzie and Mimi).
I became a Graphic Designer in 1992, working for multinational corporations, nonprofits, and small business owners. I started my freelance graphic design business, Taurus Moon Graphic Design, LLC in 2002. I am passionate about making printed documents eye-catching and easy to read.
I served as the Communications Director for the New House Republican Caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Working directly for Representatives Cal Bahr, Jeremy Munson, Steve Drazkowski and Tim Miller, I gained direct experience with the legislative process — experience that will provide me with the ability to start fighting for you on day one.
I am currently the Lead Graphic Designer at Minuteman Press Uptown in north Minneapolis — the largest black-owned union printer in Minnesota.
My life philosophy is that faith, family and education will propel you to the greatest heights of your life. You just need the government to get out of your way.
